6 Easy Steps to Help You Forgive-Once and For All!

Do you need to forgive someone? Chances are YES! At one point or another in our lives, WE ALL need to forgive someone for hurting us, no matter how large or small it is.

However, not forgiving others leads to us feeling resentment, anger, negative energy that is stored in our minds and bodies, as well as other toxic consequences that are detrimental to our health. Not to mention that it may harm our relationship with Jesus!

It is said that unforgiveness is choosing to stay trapped in a jail cell of bitterness, serving time for someone else’s crime and sin.  However, choosing to forgive will allow your wounds to heal while encouraging you to move on from your painful past. This will help you to feel free, because you will no longer be trapped in sin.

Choose the light rather than the darkness. Forgive others and follow the path of joy,  peace and abundance!

Jesus commands  “Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful”- Luke 6:36.

God wants us to act with charity and mercy towards those that have hurt us. Afterall, if we want to be forgiven, we must too forgive.

Jesus states “And when you stand and pray, forgive anything you may have against anyone, so that your Father in heaven will forgive the wrongs you have done” Mark 11:25

Forgiving is a battle between your physical self and your divine self. But don’t be defeated! Even though this might seem impossible, nothing is impossible with God. See the steps below regarding how to forgive, once and for all!

“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me!”- Philippians 4:13

1). Who needs to be forgiven?

2). What do they need to be forgiven for?

3). What is the FIRST step you can do to start the forgiveness process? For example:  Put it in perspective. Most of the time, people don’t intentionally mean to harm you.

4). Think about the good times that you had with that person.

5). Choose ONE thing to do as a charitable act for this person. For example: Pray, call them, etc.

6). Meditate to help calm your mind and to help you become more mindful. For example: As you become more mindful you will recognize your negative thoughts and you will become better equipped to CHOOSE better thoughts!

That’s it! By following these 6 simple steps, you are now on the path of forgiveness!
